The Ant

Macrobeing - Ant Larva

Ants display many social behaviors that reminds us of our society. They live in colonies comprised of one or more queens and many workers. Queen’s function is to lay thousands of eggs and ensure the colony’s survival. The new queens and males found in the colonies after reproduction will have two pairs of wings. Males do not live long after mating. Queens break their wings off and never fly after mating.

Queen ants generally stay deep and safe inside a nest. Most ants that we see outside are worker ants and all these are females. Ant larva is white and like grub. They do not have legs and can’t move about much on their own. workers take good care of larvae by washing and feeding them.
